Elma's
Houses
On
the edge of Alonissos' scenic Old Town, in a quiet and green position
are located these two exceptional little houses, plus two characterful
studios. The result of a careful and stylish renovation of two old
town houses, the standard of this accommodation is very high. The
owner is an architect by profession, and also owns an antique shop
in the Old Town-this is reflected in the quality of the houses/studios
and by their furnishings and decorations.
The two houses, ('Blue' and 'Green' for the colour of the shutters),
which are adjoining, have a very similar layout. On the lower floor
is a bedroom with a double bed, built in traditional platform style,
complete with mosquito nets. This room has added character provided
by the corner fireplace. Also on the lower floor is the bathroom
with shower and WC. The upper floor of the houses comprises an open
plan living room-kitchen. The kitchen area has fridge, sink and
electric rings, and is equipped for the preparation of simple meals.
There is a dining table and chairs, and a single couch bed (another
foldaway bed is also available) From the living room, there is access
to a small wooden balcony with lovely views over the trees to the
sea and to Skopelos beyond.
The houses are equipped with airconditioning and TV.
Both houses have a spacious terrace in front of the house on ground
level, which is shaded by a pergola with bamboo and bougainvillea.
The two studios are located in a building to the front of the houses.
Both are open-plan, and have stripped wooden floors, double beds
with mosquito nets, and a kitchen area equipped with mini oven,
electric hob and fridge-freezer. Both have an extra foldaway single
bed. The lower studio has a superb terrace which is really spacious,
and which has wonderful unobstructed views. Shade is provided by
a pergola with bambooThe upper studio has its own balcony-again
with fantastic sea views.
Both the houses and studios are extremely comfortably furnished
and decorated with Greek style.
Alonissos Old Town is an extremely scenic settlement, built high
on the hill above Patitiri port, with a peaceful and unhurried atmosphere.
There are a handful of tavernas, a couple of cafes, and a minimarket.
Taxis and a bus service connect the Old Town with Patitiri where
there are more tavernas and shops to be found; alternatively you
can get there by foot via a mule track which meanders down through
lovely countryside-this takes around 30 minutes.
You can also walk to the nearest beach of Mikros Mourtias-this takes
around 20 minutes or so.
